Untitled
Like a drop of water
The mole migrated down your chin
A hot shower
After a public pool swim
Happy endings they never bore me
Mordant witticisms
An oxidized door key
A windless dusk
Hungover paranoia and informed distrusts
Postcodes smeared
Headlight shadows leered
This was when they showed movies on buses
Sips from a warm dusty can of beer
Dawn fog dodging and burning in the sun
Braids of the border river converged
As tea tree tannins run
Over logs of milky shitwood
The flood submerged for fun
As we passed through the pleasant shadows
Of a concrete overpass
I thought of going down on you
At the public pool
Where everything is so summery
And cool
The sky curdled
Ears pop and pressures drop
Air conditioning like a cold front
A silver puddle reflects a glimpse of heaven
In the warm bitumen of a truck stop.
